Flexion stretching is the neck in flexion gently allowing the head to lean forward and continue for 30 seconds. The stretch should be sensed in the back of the neck. If you have an administrative job or in other employment with the with the head forward for a prolonged amount of time, this workout may be inappropriate for you.

Extension stretching is the head arching backward then remaining still up to 30 seconds. If there is disc damage, a pinched nerve or facet joint recurrence of the neck then do this workout carefully.

  •  Head rotation stretch (right and left)

This rotation stretch is turning the head rightward and continuing it for 30 seconds, then the left side and repeat. You may not be able to do the equal measure of reps on each side. Start gently without any pain, so there is a subtle stretch contrary the side that your head is turned. Halt when you feel any neck pain to the angle your head is bent, or if you feel any circulating symptoms in your arm.

  • Head tilt – lateral flexion (right and left)

A lateral flexion stretch begins with tilting the head rightward and maintaining it for 30 seconds, then do the left side and repeat. Reps to each side of the neck may vary. As usual start delicately without pain and apply an easy extension to the different side of the head that is bent. Stop when there is neck pain to the side your head is angled, or if there are sprinkling symptoms to the arm.

You are doing standard neck stretches. They are elementary but focus on symptoms like pain and a vertigo feeling. These stretches can have after-affects on the joints so do them with proper bio-mechanics and prudence.

If you are in a prolonged posture with the head forward or then an elongation workout for the neck muscle is befitting to ease into preliminary neck conditioning, and the stretching that ensues. They assist with any neck pain and to re-strengthen the motion of the vital bracing neck muscles.
